School Daze

Yay! I'm officially in school now! I can't even believe it. Below is a picture of me on my first day. What a nerd I am to capture the moment! You can't really see much of my maroon scrubs. It is hard when you are taking the photo yourself. LOL! Larry wasn't home from work yet when I left in the morning.

I started school on Monday. It was really great. It is SO weird to be there though. I never experienced the college atmosphere so it weirded me out a little bit...like..."I'm actually doing this". You know what I mean? I never thought I would be able to do it. It makes me happy yet it scares me too. I just want to do well. I got my books and they weigh a ton...I actually put my bookbag on the scale and it weighed almost 16 pounds. Hard to believe that I used to carry more than a hundred pounds plus on my body and I'm complaining about 16 pounds of books. LOL!

We already got homework. I have a paper due as well as a huge reading assignment along with workbook pages to complete. Fun, fun!

Blast From The Past

Your eyes are not deceiving you. Yes, this really is a post from ME!! Hello everyone!! I am SO sorry that I totally suck as a blogger these days. Really, I am. So much stuff has been going on. What brought me back is our dear friend Sue. She is OK, but Redford her cat is not. I have been talking to her the past few days. That is why she has been unable to post. My heart is breaking for her. Please keep her in your prayers as today is a very sad day for her.

Let's see!! Well school officially starts on January 4th!! I cannot wait. A few weeks ago I had to go up to the University to get my Student ID. I felt like the oldest person there. Larry was like "no, you're not". Then explain to me why the students were handing out flyers for an upcoming event outside the Student Center and they handed them out to everyone around us, but not us? Ummmm because they probably thought we were faculty! LOL!

I had to go scrub shopping which was fun!! Actually the big bulk of my scrubs was a Christmas gift from my sister Jenny. How sweet of her!! I wondered why she wanted to come shopping for scrubs with me. Now I know why. I got regular scrub tops and cargo scrub pants in black (duh!), brown, wine, navy blue and army "Hawkeye from M*A*S*H" green. I also, after much prodding from my sister, got 3 print tops. Yes, I am such a nerd that I posted my scrub top photos. LOL! I have to say it is nice now that since I have lost 130 pounds (a small person!), that I can shop in any scrub top store and not have to worry about sizes. Thank God!! Which reminds me I need to post a new picture of me.

Well my friends, I am going to promise to try to be a better blogger. I really have alot of catching up to do with you all as far as reading and commenting on blogs. I just wanted you to know that I didn't fall off the face of the earth. This month has been crazy with getting ready for school. I also had to get YAG laser surgery in both of my eyes. Remember I had told you a few years back I had cataract surgery at 35yrs old due to the fact that I am asthmatic and when I was sick with pneumonia I was on prednisone which is a steroid. That caused the cataracts. Well anyway, since I was young with getting the surgery I had a 60% chance of growing what is called a "secondary membrane" over the implant they put in your eye during cataract surgery. What this means is that it was like I was getting another cataract. Good news is that they were removed by laser two different weeks this month. Also, they can NEVER grow back. Also my vision is SO much better now. I will only have to continue wearing distance glasses when I drive. My intermediate and near vision are great.

As you can see, it has been a crazy month for me. I hope that you all are doing well and are healthy. I will try and update more often.

A Guy, A Girl, And A TV

Merry Early Christmas to us. Well, not really. We were forced into purchasing a new television because our old one finally met the TV tube in the sky. It was one of those box tvs which had a dvd/vcr combo in it. So we literally lost 3 things at once when it went.

After much research and a return of an LG model, we finally are proud owners of a Panasonic Viera LCD 32in TV. In my entire life, this is the largest TV I have ever owned. Our other one that died was 19 inches. So this is like a movie screen to me now. We got an AMAZING deal on this TV. We were going to get a 22in model in another store and we got this 32in model for what we would have paid for the 22in model!!

On Wednesday, DirecTV is coming to give us our free upgrade to HDTV along with replacing our old dish with a HD dish AND bringing us a FREE DVR!! How awesome is that? Now to learn how to use all this stuff. Larry and I are not really that technically advanced. At all. Seriously.

Well I can tell you this, we weren't financially ready to make this purchase considering I am laid off. BUT, I am SO glad we did. This TV plays amazing without the HD being hooked up. I cannot wait to see what will happen on Wednesday. I also cannot wait to see "Lost" in HD. Mmmmm Sawyer in HD.

Turns out they were looking for each other and the Dad found a very creative way to find his daughter. I think this will give many more people ideas on how to go about finding loved ones.

Actually I have been using my cell phone as a watch. Actually today, Larry got me a watch for Christmas. I can't use it yet. But I will tell you about it. It is a two-toned silver/gold Pulsar watch with NUMBERS on it...not roman numerals or lines. LOL

Gallbladder surgery and it was laperscopic so it really isn't a big scar anyway and it faded because it is 11yrs old now.

Well I can really only speak for TBL because that is the only one I watch. I think it is definitely real. I think some moments are faked though for "commercial reasons". For instance, they are constantly showing Extra sugarfree gum and talking about products that TBL sells..or throwing in 'visits to Subway' because they are a sponsor. Not really fake..I would say they are forced moments.

Me only younger

My sister Jenny's

Two or three times a year with sinus infections that aggravates my asthma even more.

NaBloPoMo - November 2nd

Happy Monday Everyone! I wanted to pop in and say hello! I received my packet from the University!!! Yay! It's reaaaallly official now because I have my acceptance letter in my hands! It was faxed over to the grant office. Now the rest of the money situation is dealt between those two parties. All I have to do is show up on January 4th in medical attire and bring along a bookbag. I will receive all my books and materials then. Luckily the grant pays for the books. THANK GOD!! Things the grant does not include are: stethescope, blood pressure cuff, scrubs, CPR certification, and malpractice insurance. My sister Gina just happened to have a stethescope and blood pressure cuff. So I am just responsible for the other things. Not too bad huh? I really am very blessed by this grant. It gives me a second chance at a career where I can help and be a blessing for people. I'm WAY excited.

My hubby was playing around on YouTube and came across this video of Sesame Street's Bert & Ernie. Some person made a video of their clips with a rap song going on in the background. You have to check-out how cool it is because they matched up their mouths to the lyrics. Plus all the dancing, just goes with the beat of the song. I thought this was cool!

Even though I'm not a fan of pink (too girly for me...sorry Debbie), it is pink and white.

I've been to an "all-male revue" twice when I was in my early 20s. They stripped down to g-strings. Never full nudity.

Well, when I ate ice cream...(since I've been dieting since April)...my favorite was Oreo Cookies & Cream. How did I choose? Easy...it was my favorite silly.

It's OK. It doesn't give me the warm fuzzies though. LOL

I see a pattern forming here. OK...I preferred pizza over Chinese food when I was able to have both. But I did like Chinese food too. Since dieting I've had pizza, but only one slice with a salad. I've also had Chinese food and let's just say my palate must have changed because it literally made me sick after I ate it. I think the sodium and the oil in it got to me. It wasn't pretty.

Only at restaurants.

I love you (after I texted Larry, that was his reply back...awwww!) Yeah, he can be sweet sometimes.
