Random Dozen

To all my Blogger Friends ~ I will read and post comments tomorrow as it is past midnight and I have to get my hind end into bed. Holy Moly..I'm going to be so tired tomorrow!!!

Arizona

Random Dozen Early

I'm posting Random Dozen now because I don't feel much like "talking" today. I had a really bad day. I don't want to get into it, because I'll get all worked up again. I just calmed down. All I will say is this: I really hate when people disrespect others. It is not nice and uncalled for. Especially when you make someone feel bad about themselves and question what they are doing. I have to remember that I can't allow someone to steal my joy. But it is easier said than done.

Plus, I have a HUGE mid-term exam next week that I am preparing for. I haven't done this in ALOT of years so I am really nervous about it. Also, we are getting ready to take half of our national test too. (business & administrative portion). In June we will take the clinical portion). Ugh! Posting this then I'm off to study and then watch LOST! I'll be back tomorrow to read & comment my bloggy friends!! Hugs to you all!

1. How old is the oldest pair of shoes in your closet?
I have a pair of Timberlands from 1994.
2. Did you buy Girl Scout cookies this year? If so, what variety?
When we were at the Mall on Saturday, Larry bought a box of Thin Mints from the Girl Scouts there. You will be proud. Out of the whole box, I only had one!

3. Do you know how to ballroom dance? If not, would you like to?
No and No.

4. Were you a responsible child/teenager?
Yes, I was raised only by my Mom and she really was very strict. As were the nuns in grammar school and high school. Really strict.

5. How many of this year's Oscar-nominated movies did you see?
None. But I do want to see "The Blind Side", "Precious", and "Crazy Heart"

6. If you're going to have a medical procedure done, such as having blood drawn, is it easier for you to watch someone else having the procedure done or have it done yourself?
I can do either. PLUS, in the near future I will be the one drawing the blood so I better be able to handle it. LOL

7. What is your favorite day of the week and why?
Saturdays now because Larry has off!!! We waited almost 15yrs for this!

8. Do you miss anyone right now?
My Mom - always.

9. Do hospitals make you queasy?
No. I wouldn't be going into the health field if they did. I'd be in trouble.

10. At which store would you like to max-out your credit card. Not that you ever would, you responsible person, you.
Amazon.com

11. Are you true to the brand names of products/items?
I will buy generic or store brands EXCEPT: I will never, ever stray from Heinz Ketchup, Hellmans Light Mayo, Bacos Bacon bits, and Kraft Fat Free Catalina. Sometimes you just can't stray from certain brand names.

12. Which is more difficult: looking into someone’s eyes when you are telling someone how you feel, or looking into someone’s eyes when he/she is telling you how he/she feels?
I think both are difficult, especially if there is something negative that is being said.

Random Dozen & A Bit More

I've been having a BUSY week so far. This week I have school Monday through Thursday all day & hospice externship all day Friday. We are going to the lab on Thursday. My teacher is going to show us where our clinicals will take place. Should be interesting.

Monday I was a bit late for school because as I was leaving, I came out my apartment door and noticed a puddle of water right in front of my door. We share a hallway with the lady upstairs from us. I will give you the Cliff Notes version. Her hot water heater broke and leaked in her closet which is above our doorway. Luckily outside the apartment. Right before the entrance door we both share. When I saw the water, I went to turn the light on to see what was going on. As I touched the light switch I felt water dripping on my hand. The light switch and wall were both soaked. Thank the good Lord I didn't get electrocuted. I ran to the car, dropped off my bookbag and went to the super's apartment. I also almost fell on my ass three times slipping on black ice. I can never win. Anyway, I called my upstairs neighbor on her cell phone. She works in NYC and leaves here around 5:30am. She gave the super and I permission to go in her apartment. We had to go in and move furniture and a boatload of stuff out of her closet to get to a second interior closet (within the closet) which housed the hot water heater. Luckily we got in and the super was able to shut off the valve. Alot of the stuff in her closet was destroyed. I felt bad for her. Thank God that nothing went into my apartment!! Problem avoided. I've had enough drama the past few weeks!

Now onto the weekly feature...

1. Do you prefer even or odd numbers? Any particular reason?
I prefer even numbers for some strange reason. Not sure why. I always liked the number 2 and 12 and 24. Must be the twos.

2. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being "not at all" and 10 being Carly Simon-worthy, how vain are you?
One...seriously. I am very hard on myself.

3. Among these Irish stereotypes, with which do you identify most closely? Talkative, Proud, Inquisitive, Love to party, Hot-tempered
I guess talkative. Depends on who I am with though.

4. How lucky do you consider yourself?
I am unlucky in some aspects of my life. However, I am very lucky & blessed in other aspects of my life. I have a wonderful family, great friends, and now with school, hopefully I will find a great job once I graduate.

5. What is the subject of your favorite post that you've written?
I'm not sure what my favorite post was. Probably something about my cat Harley.

6. Describe March weather where you live in three words.
Freezing, Snowy, and Icy

7. How apt are you at detecting blarney when you hear it? (Smooth talk, flattery)
Pretty apt.

8. How "green" are you, environmentally speaking?
I'm ashamed to say but not very green at all.

9. What is your favorite song this week?
There is this new female singer/guitarist. Her name is Orianthi. She is AMAZING! She is a female Eddie Van Halen who can sing. She was Michael Jackson's lead guitarist on his "This Is It" tour but obviously things changed. Her song "According To You" has been stuck in my head. PLEASE give her a listen. You have to watch her guitar solo. I am also going to post a video of her doing a Michael Jackson song guitar solo as well. Let me know what you think.
Orianthi ~ "According To You" (guitar solo at 2:10 mark)

Orianthi ~ "Beat It" guitar solo alongside MJ. ---> Amazing!

10. You are walking along and see a coin on the ground. What denomination does it have to be before you will stop to pick it up?
At least a nickel on heads of course.

11. Complete the sentence: "Every time I look outside my window ...."
I see snow! I keep hoping it will be spring.

12. What was the #1 song on the day you were born?
"Song Sung Blue" by Neil Diamond

Random Dozen

1. Have you ever fired a gun or shot a bow and arrow?
Yes, as a matter of fact I have. Larry and I went to The Poconos one weekend. You know how it is a place for people in love. Nothing says love like having a shooting range and a place for archery on site. LOL

2. Do you know where your childhood best friends are?
My childhood best friend is still my best friend. Colleen and I have been best friends since 1977. In September it will be 33 years. We met on the playground before kindergarden class near the hopscotch game.

3. Do you usually arrive early, late, or on time?
Since I like to cut everything to the wire, I either arrive on time or 5mins early. At school though, I'm usually 1/2 hour early because we formed a 'coffee clutch'.

4. Are you more of a New York or California type?
I live SO close to NYC, but I'm not particularly a fan. I much would rather the California beaches, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm and drooling over stars homes.

5. Do you have a special ring tone?
Right now my ring tone is "Ain't That A Kick In The Head" by Dean Martin. I also have "Teddy Bear" by my Elvis on the phone too. (I know, big surprise)

6. What is your favorite type of chip?
Right now - Baked Lays Cheddar & Sour Cream. Pre-Diet it was Doritos.

7. Best comedy you've ever seen is ....
"Grumpy Old Men" with Jack Lemmon & Walter Matthau.

8. Have you ever cut your own hair? To quote Dr. Phil, "How'd that work for ya?"
I've trimmed my own bangs. I'm sorry, I can't stand Dr. Phil. I'd like to knock the smug, pompous look right off of his face. Just onec. LOL

9. If you were going to have an extreme makeover, would you rather it be about your house or your personal self?
Since I rent an apartment & can't make any changes, I would have to say myself. With the weight loss, I can use alot more clothes.

10. Are you allergic to anything?
Dust, cats (I'm immune to Harley), and percocet.

11. Why is it so hard to change?
Because it is hard for the mindset. Once you get in the groove, sometimes change is good.

12. One last question dedicated to February love: CS Lewis said, "To love is to be vulnerable." Please share one example of that assertion or share any thought you'd like to about this topic.
Sometimes when you're in love, you let your guard down. People can then take advantage of that. When I was young, before meeting my husband, I was in a serious relationship with someone in the army. This man could do no wrong in my eyes. Let's just say, I had blinders on because the fool guy did alot of wrong.
