I just read the news that beloved "Last Lecture" Professor Randy Pausch has passed away from pancreatic cancer this morning in his home in Virginia at the age of 47. Randy was an inspiration to so many people when he offered his "Last Lecture" at Carnegie Mellon University. It gained recognition and widespread fame on the internet. I posted about him back in April which you can read here. I have downloaded onto my iPod his "Last Lecture" and "Time Management" a few months ago. I highly recommend them. They are free through iTunes. You can look it up either with his name or under Carnegie Mellon University. I also own his book "The Last Lecture" which is terrific.
Randy suffered for a long time with pancreatic cancer. He was first diagnosed back in September of 2006 but was in remission until the doctors said that the cancer was back in August of 2007. Randy was bound to prove the doctor's estimate of how long he would live. They gave him 3 to 6 months and he lived 11 months! Randy was a firm believer in living out your childhood dreams and to "never lose your childlike wonder". He left behind a legacy for his 3 young children and wife to be so proud of. God bless and keep you Randy, may you rest in peace.
