Hopefully Good News!

Well, I am back home. I got in at 11:30pm. I am wiped out. I think I'm more mentally & emotionally drained than physically drained. Ah, who am I kidding, I'm physically drained too.

When we got to the hospital, we got her checked into the surgical unit. At that point my sister had a severe migraine & her blood pressure was up. The anesthesiologist came to see her & he allowed her to take a Zomig for her migraine. Thank God!! The migraine also elevated her pressure and if it didn't go down they wouldn't have been able to do the operation. Finally right before 2pm they took her pressure and it was a tad high but it was still within the limit that they were able to proceed with the surgery. She was in for 4hrs. The doctor had told us between 4 to 5hrs. We originally thought less...but he told us more. I never was so glad to see that man when he came into the waiting room to tell us she was OK. Thank the Good Lord. I was so sick for 4hrs. Her & I are very close. She is like a Mom to me. We lost our Mom when I was 18...my sister is 16yrs older than me so she is a sister and a second Mother to me.

He explained what the problem had been now that he went in physically with a camera. Her ureter that attaches to the kidney had a blockage. What it was - was that an artery was resting on top of the ureter pushing it in and causing it to close up. They had to cut the ureter and go above the artery and reattach it over the artery instead of under it. They also cleared some other obstructions. She had alot of inflammation from the 2 stents she had. He left the last stent in that she had. She also has a catheter. She doesn't know yet that he wants her to stay until Thursday. We keep telling her that "maybe tomorrow" you can go home. She also doesn't know she is going to go home with a catheter for 10 days!!!!!!!! She is NOT going to be happy. She will also need to leave this stent in for an additional 6 weeks. We didn't want to spring all of this at her at once. She hates anything that "slows her down" or causes her activeness to go out of whack. I honestly though have a good feeling about this surgery and pray to God that it works. This is the last step before they would need to remove the kidney.

Thanks again everyone for your support. I so appreciate it. I'm going to try to get some sleep. I'm going to ask my boss if I can take a half day tomorrow. Visiting hours start at 12noon so if I leave at noon or 1pm I can be to her by 1 or 2pm. My other sister slept over with her tonight because my sister lucked out and got a private room!!! So they allowed her to stay with her. I was going to stay but they wanted me to get rest so I could go to work in the morning and I will go relieve my other sister when I get there. Her hubby wanted to stay but my sister wanted my other sister to stay. I told her he is lucky...we are all "fighting" over you. LOL!

OK, I'm off to bed. I hope I could sleep...I had a little bit of Taco Bell for dinner at 11:40pm and I think I'm going to be regretting it in say an hour or so. Ugh!! Bad....bad mistake. (insert mental head slap here). I'll keep you guys posted.

Thank you SO much. I will feel much better once I talk to her this morning. I think they turn the hospital phones on at 7am. I think I will wait until 8am because her doctor was going to go in the very early am to see her before his office hours. I want to see what he tells her. All she wants to hear is that she can go home today.

Again thanks so much for the healing thoughts and prayers.

The Taco Bell - believe it or not, it wasn't that bad...I felt a little uncomfortable when I went to sleep (if that is what you want to call sleep..I was tossing & turning all night) I have "adjeda" (heartburn) right now at 5:20am. Got to remedy that quick. I'm just very tired but a huge iced coffee will remedy that. LOL! I do feel better knowing my other sister slept there and she wasn't alone.

Again - thank you SO much - (((HUGS))))
PS...thanks for the link too. I'm going to go check it out.
