From the Dr. Oz Website: Richard!!

(if you click on the picture, it will bring you to Doctor Oz's website and it starts an adorable videotape message from Richard about Doctor Oz.)

Can I tell you just how much I LOVE Richard Simmons AND Doctor Oz. In my opinion, I just think that they both really, genuinely love people and want to help them.

Back in 1989, when I was 17yrs old, Richard was promoting one of his Sweatin To The Oldies videos at a mall I was working in at night & on the weekends while I was in high school. During a break at work, I got to say hello to him. He was ADORABLE. He came up to me and hugged me and said "I love you!". He was SO much fun. So full of energy and life. I knew from back then that he was going to change alot of people's lives. He gives people hope, encouragement & love.

P.S. Yes, he was wearing the tank top and the striped shorts. LOL

Still Not Done

PhotobucketI think I would have been better off going to school yesterday. My teacher had called us and gave us 2 huge chapters to read (60 pages), 2 units in our workbooks which equated to 20 pages and medical terminology vocabulary words. So much for a snow day huh?

Holy Moly! (ode to Bud) -- I worked on it almost all day! From 8am this morning. I took a 1.5 hour break in the afternoon, about 20 minutes in the evening, and I watched Lost for 1 hour. Other than that, I've been doing my homework. Guess what? I have a confession to make. I still have about 15 more pages to read out of 60. I'm exhausted and I'm going to bed. My mind is fried deeper than an egg on a skillet. Please take note that I'm writing this at 12:30am. The alarm is set for 4:45am. Sigh.

I guess I'll read the 15 pages while my car warms up. (Mental note to self. Drink plenty of coffee in the morning. Yeah, like I have to remind myself. LOL)

Tuesday Cuteness, Snow, & Homework..Oh My!

I had to post this cute 40sec video of Harley. The other day I was making tuna. As soon as that cat hears the can opener break the seal, he runs in the room like he's competing for Olympic gold. I got my camera out and videoed him eating a little, tiny piece of tuna. It was like it was a 5 course meal. Wait till you see how cute it was. By the way, the music playing in the background was my hubby's new Dave Matthews cd.

I have a new love ~ Saladworks. Have any of you been there? Healthy and yummy.

Anyway, I hope you have a great day! Today I hand in my big project at school. (pending we actually have school since it is supposed to snow) Hopefully I will get a good grade. I worked very hard on it. This week we get to go to the lab where we will have our clinicals. I have a busy week ahead of me. I like being busy though! Tuesday through Thursday I have school. Friday I have my hospice externship.

UPDATE 7:00am: Well, as expected, it snowed. I spoke with my teacher at 5:30am this morning. We do not have school today BUT we will have to make up the 3 snow days we had so far along with missing President's Day yesterday. So we are adding in extra classes for the next month so we will graduate on time. Plus on top of that I will have to do my externship hours. I'm doing well with that because I already got about 53 hours in for externship. However, with adding more classes, it's going to be a busy 4 weeks for me. But I welcome it. I love to be busy! Now onto my homework. On the phone she gave us 2 huge chapters to read, medical terminology vocab words and 2 units in our workbooks to do for ummm tomorrow. Gotta go..LOL!

Monday Mayhem: Have You Or Would You?

Join Us for Monday Mayhem

I got this meme idea from our good friend Bud over at WTIT: The Blog. He posted his reply last week. I was not looking to do another meme, but this one seemed interesting, so I figured why the heck not?

HAVE YOU or WOULD YOU...Kissed a Cow? Have you ever touched one?
As a matter of fact I have both kissed AND touched a cow. Ok if you want to get technical, I kissed a week old baby calf. When Larry and I stayed at a dairy farm/bed & breakfast, they allowed me to feed the baby calf with a big bottle. It was ADORABLE. I kissed it on top of its head. I also got to milk a regular sized dairy cow by hand. So...technically YES to both questions. Aren't you glad you asked?

HAVE YOU or WOULD YOU give your pet a Valentine?
I haven't given Harley an actual Valentines Day card, but I have given him a catnip Valentine's themed toy in the past. I'm a nerd like that.

Have you or would you do something odd with candy?
Odd? Not sure where you are going with this. When not dieting, I would umm eat candy. That's about it though.

Have you or would you gone out with someone based solely on looks?
I have. When I was 18, I went out with this one guy who was absolutely gorgeous. But, he had the personality of a tree stump which proved to me that looks aren't everything.

Have you or would you go out with someone just for the meal?
No I have not or would not.

Have you or would you fall in love with 2 different people at the same time?
Well there was that time back when I was 22.....

Have you or would you place anything before love?
Not that I can recall. I don't think I would either. Love is what keeps my crazy life going.

HAVE YOU or WOULD YOU... believe in true love?
Sure, I believe in true love. I also believe in soulmates. I also believe that a person can have more than one soulmate in their lives. Not at the same time of course. Forget what I said about when I was 22..LOL

How would you define true love?
True love is loving with every fiber in your heart, mind, and soul. True love is unconditional and rare.

HAVE YOU or WOULD YOU...send another blogger a Valentine?
I have sent a blogger who is my very dear friend a Valentine. Sue has yet to receive it though!! :(
Have you or would you do something really stupid in the name of love?
I was dating a military guy back when I was 19yrs old (until I was 22). While he was in Basic Training I missed him like crazy. I promised him I would write him everyday. Like a young fool dedicated girlfriend, I did. Even when the power went out for 3 days. I wrote him by candlelight. I wish I were kidding.

Saturday 9: It's A Beautiful Morning

1. Are you a morning person?
I'm actually more of a night person. It gets me in trouble alot because when I'm going to school, I wake up at 4:30am. When you go to bed around 1:30am or so and wake up about once or twice before the alarm sounds...it doesn't make for a very attractive day ahead.

Amish Country if I had to pick someplace where it snowed. If I can have my pick though, I would say either Arizona or New Mexico.

6. Are you named after anyone?
My Mom used to love the show Family Affair. She loved the name Jody. However, on the show Jody was a boy! So, back in the early 70s Jodi or Jodie for a girl was a popular name. So, she chose the spelling Jodi

7. How do you release anger?
I usually keep alot of it inside of me. But I do let loose every once and awhile. I will either yell or cry.

8. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Not particulary.

9. What is your least favorite thing about yourself?
The way I procrastinate. Also, sometimes I'm too trusting.

I Thunk It On Friday

Photobucket
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Berleen, the color of blood, and the number negative 18.

1. Kimber is freaking out because I didn't get the TT done yesterday. I had a busy day. Will you ever forgive me?
Of course I will forgive you. I have been a horrible blogger for the past few months. Who am I to judge? LOL

2. So this weekend is Valentine's Day. When you think of yourself and this love-filled holiday, what is biggest memory?

Actually my biggest memory is not exactly on VDay but a few days later. I met Larry on Feb 17th 1996. When I went to work on Monday, in the late morning a flower delivery person brought me a dozen beautiful roses in a gorgeous vase. Attached was a card Larry hand-wrote that read..."These are for not knowing you on Valentine's Day. So glad we met". How cute was that? I will never forget that.

3. Pajama pants. Who knew it could have so many fricken opinions. (Seriously... if you don't believe me) Would you... do you... could you wear PJ pants to a store?

No, not to a store. To bed and maybe to get the mail outside. That's about it.

4. I'm gonna give you one of those big heart candy boxes on Sunday. Are you an expert at chocolate candies and already know whats inside them all or will you just take whichever one and enjoy it no matter what is inside or are you one of those people who sticks their finger in the bottom of the candy to see what the filling is then puts it back if you don't like it?

I pretty much could tell the caramel ones. Other than that, if I don't like it, I give it to Larry.

5. Scented Candles - whats your favorite?

Black cherry or Mulberry.

6. Snow sucks. We've mostly all been hit. What kind of snow shovel do you have? (The rest of you who live in sunny no-snow places... tell me your favorite sunscreen brand)

We need to invest in a regular snow shovel. Poor Larry dug out our cars with a dirt shovel/spade.

7. The first thing I thought of this morning when I woke up was "Oh crap. Kimber's gonna be pissed...." then I had a whole bunch of good ideas for questions to ask. Now I can't remember them. Do you keep a notebook next to your bed for times like that?

Nope. I should keep one for the dreams I have. I remember them when I wake up then forget them 5 minutes later. What's up with that?

8. Have you ever seen a groundhog in real, you can touch it and it will bite you, life?

Nope and nor do I care to. The little bastards are usually right about long winters so I hold a grudge.

9. Is there any key on your keyboard that is starting to wear off? Which one is it?

Got a new computer last spring...so they are all still intact.

10. Do you think Kimber should move to Minnesota and take long walks in the snow with Berleen?

Actually I think Berleen should move to Arizona and get away from the snow. I would love to migrate to Arizona or New Mexico. Larry won't let me though. Yeah, yeah, yeah...something about his job and our families and friends. I despise the winter.

A Valentine's Day Surprise!

Yesterday I received a big box in the mail from my beautiful friend Sue. She is such a blessing in my life. To think that she took the time and all the effort to make my Valentine's Day special. Harley even got something special too!! Thank you SO much Sue. I love everything down to the tissue paper!!

Here are all the goodies...
Photobucket

-A Valentine's Day friendship card
-A beautiful friendship frame with our picture in it
-A mug that has on the front of it Forever Friend. On the inside of the top of the mug, it reads.."Thoughts of you warm my heart." Awww! Speaking of warm...When you add a hot beverage to the mug, there is a heart on the back and it shows words that say, "Forever, Always, No Matter What." Isn't that precious? PLUS, Sue knows how much I love the color purple and butterflies...so this mug is just perfect all around!!!
-A magnet (it also had a way you can stand it up like a frame) that reads, "Friends are the family we choose for ourselves." Isn't that the truth??
-Aunt Sue always thinks of Harley. She sent him a toy filled with organic catnip. Harley LOVES it. I posted below a video of how much Harley loves it. He's never had organic before! She is so thoughtful to think of him too!!
Photobucket
-Speaking of thoughtful, Sue knows I've been on a diet and how much I love the Special K brand. So, she sent me 2 boxes of Special K Fruit Crisps in blueberry and strawberry flavors. I have been wanting to try them and I did. Tonight I tried the blueberry. Yummy! The best way I could describe them are like a Pop-Tart but healthier.
-Elvis: American Idol book. How perfect is this??
-An inspirational book called "The Shack" by William P. Young. This book is supposed to be read and passed on.

THANK YOU SOOOOO very much again for everything Sue. Everything is so personal and thoughtful. You are such a blessing in my life. Your friendship means the world to me. Our blogs brought us together and I am so glad that we made Connecticut our meeting point! I so look forward to the next time we meet up. We love you! ♥

I will leave you with Harley playing with the toy that his Aunt Sue got him. The funniest part is at 0.34 seconds. He really gets into it. Actually, he's into it the whole time! LOL

Snow Day In Jersey

Photobucket
Last night the University called me up and said that NJ closed all of their Colleges and Universities. Woo-Hoo! First thing I did was shut my alarm off!!

We are expected to get anywhere from 8 to 18 inches of snow along with "blizzard like conditions." Wonderful.

Are any of you guys off today due to snow? I honestly can't wait until the winter ends because I really hate snow. I'm terrified to drive in snow and ice. I keep telling my husband that I want to migrate to Arizona or New Mexico.

What to do today:
  • Finish reading the library book that is due on Tuesday
  • Catch up on my DVR'd shows. I have about 3hrs worth of shows to watch.
  • Pray that we don't lose power. We already lost our DirecTv service. Thank God that doesn't affect the DVR.

Please stay safe everyone!!! Tonight my hubby has to go to work. They warned everyone that if they don't show up it would be an automatic suspension. Totally heartless and ridiculous.

Random Thoughts

Photobucket

--How come it took me so long to jump on the Dr. Oz bandwagon? I don't know what it is, but this man fascinates me. Maybe it is because to me, he is extremely intelligent. Or, is it the way that you could tell he truly cares about the people he is trying to help? For some reason, I can just tell that this man has a great bedside manner. He is gentle in the way that he speaks yet is so knowledgeable and presents himself very well. I love how he gives straight-forward answers and doesn't take even a second to think about his answers to questions that he is asked. Ok, he is a cutie-pie too. There is something sexy about him. I can't put my finger on it. Call me crazy but he could write me a prescription anytime. LOL! I am just thankful that Oprah introduced us to a good doctor. She's one for one now. (Grrr!! at Dr Phil !!)

Photobucket

--I still can't stand Bobby "Runaway" Flay. Just in case you were wondering.
Photobucket
--This is my new "thing". I am loving these Gardenburgers. I haven't had a real burger since April of 2009. Do I miss them? Sure. But these will have to do. They are really easy to make. Spray some fat-free vegetable cooking spray on each side. Put it in the pan. Cook 5 mins on each side and presto. Close your eyes and pretend its beef. Imagination not included in packaging.

Photobucket
--I think you all know how much I love my Keurig Coffee Maker. I'm excited because both Sue and Bookkitten got one as well. They can share in my happiness. The above K-Cup is my favorite. It is a medium blend. Yummy. I know you will all sleep better knowing which flavor I drink in the morning.
Photobucket
--This is just one of my books from school. My teacher said it is my new "bible". I thought that since it apparently is such an important piece of literature, that I should share it with you. This helps add to the 16 pounds in my backpack that I lug everyday.
Photobucket
--Speaking of school, this is what it looks like from the outside. Part of it is right on top of a little lake. It is very pretty up there. That lake has been frozen over for the past month.

--My last random thought does not have a picture. It is just a thought and a feeling of gratitude. Even though I got laid off in June, I am in a much better place than I was this time last year. In January 2009, I was in the hospital with cellulitis which led to my lymphedema diagnosis and subsequent 3+ months of physical therapy. Now, one year later, I am going to school via a grant that I was very lucky to get. I am 145 pounds lighter! I have my lymphedema under control because I wear compression stockings during the day and night garments at night. My lower legs are normal size because I am diligent and sometimes neurotic with my maintenance. This time last year I felt hopeless. Now I am hopeful. I am very blessed.

Thanks for "listening" guys!!! xoxo

An Award for Things That Make Me Happy

I've been given an award by my friend Sue over at Coffee Slut . Thanks Sue!!!
Photobucket

Since I've been out of blog land for awhile, I am going to tag anyone who would like to list 10 things that make them happy. While I was on hiatus a number of you may have already received this award.

Things That Make Me Happy!

  1. Harley (my cat) ♥
  2. Larry (my husband) ♥
  3. My family and friends - near and far. ♥
  4. Going to school and externing at hospice. Knowing that I want to make a difference.
  5. Being thinner than I was on my wedding day. Even though I have more to go until I reach my goal, I feel really good. Really good. For the first time in a long time.
  6. The smell and sound of the ocean
  7. Hot, fresh coffee. Especially Timothy's Colombian La Vereda K-cups for my Keurig.
  8. Elvis Presley
  9. My Panasonic HDTV. I never thought one could love an electronic like this. I have the same kind of love for my DVR too.
  10. I love that when Larry is at work (graveyard shift), Harley curls up and lays against Larry's pillows and stays with me all night long. I don't feel so alone. I fall asleep to the sound of his purring. That's Mommy's baby!

Sunday Stealing: The Pretentious Blogging Meme 2

Part 2 is where I begin since I finally got my rear in gear and started blogging again the other day.

12. How many drafts of potential blog posts do you have right now?
Just this meme. I am setting it to post Sunday morning.

13. In what medium do you draft your posts?

The one that Blogger uses.

14. How often do you completely scratch or delete drafts or blog post ideas?
Not often because I'm just getting back to blogging again. I was on a bloggy break.

15. If you had to leave your blog in your will to another blogger, who would you choose?
I would leave it to Sue and Bud as joint authors who can alternate posts. Sue can post about coffee, animals, friends and everyday life like I do. Bud can do posts about music and write his humor. However, I do have a feeling that Bud's posts would cause my blog name to change from Moody Blue to Holy Moly. LOL! I would totally trust the two of them with my blog though.

16. Are there other blogs that you feel are similar to yours in content, style, or voice?
I would have to say Sue's blog "Coffee Slut" and The Bookkitten's blog are similar. The two of them have a great sense of humor.

17. Has anything surprised you since you started blogging?
There was one blogger that surprised me. She kept disappearing and reappearing. I'll give you one guess. Wife of law enforcement. Enough said.

18. What are your goals or plans for your blog going forward?
I am going to try and be a better blogger. I really love this blog and all the friends that it has brought into my life. Plus it is a good way for me to document my days and share part of my heart.

19. Do you make any money from your blog? (optional) about how much a month?
No

20. What blogging system do you use?
Blogger

21. How did you come up your blog name?
I'm a huge fan of Elvis Presley as many of you know. I had a cd in front of me and looked down at the song title "Moody Blue" which happens to be one of my favorite songs of his. I just said..''that's it!"

22. How many blogs do you have? What was your peak?
Just this one.

23. Are you having as much fun as when you started?
Whenever I blog or read blogs I follow, I have fun.

24. Where do you find other bloggers like you?
From reading other blogs that I subscribe to normally. It seems like people with similar personalities comment or follow the same types of blogs.

25. What’s your one wish when it comes to blogging?
That is stay faithful and get back in my blogging groove.

Saturday 9: I Started A Joke

1. Tell us a joke that you think is funny. If you don't tell jokes tell us why.
I really stink at telling jokes. I know this is going to sound sexist..but I think men can tell a joke better than women. For some reason, men remember jokes better. At least that is the experience I have.

2. Where do you buy most of your clothes?

Haven't bought too much because 'unemployment wages' are horrible. I did purchase a long sleeved t-shirt at the college campus store. That is my favorite item of clothing. In fact, that is what I'm wearing in the pictures in yesterday's post. For school, I need to wear scrubs. I buy them from Tafford's store down in Central Jersey. I like Life Uniform's scrubs, but they are so much more expensive than Tafford and the quality isn't as good as Taffords.

3. Which famous person would you like to meet? Why?

Oh...this is an easy one - Josh Holloway who plays "Sawyer" on Lost. Do you really need to ask why?
Photobucket

4. What is your ultimate ambition?
My ultimate goal is to finish my program at the university and become a Registered Medical Assistant. However, with that certificate I can also try to become a Surgical Counselor for a practice. I've also been doing my externship every week at the Hospice main headquarters. I haven't done any clinicals at school yet, so I'm waiting to actually do the patient visits. BUT, I reallllly enjoy working at the headquarters. I've been doing medical records, data entry and even assisting the bereavement care counselor. I would love to work there if a position became available after my program was over. I find it is very rewarding. It is funny because the people in my class go there and leave after 2hrs. I stay for 8hrs. I love being part of something again. I can't explain it.

5. Do you like to live in the area of your country or would you prefer something a little different?
I would love to live in a place that doesn't have any snow. Seriously, I hate it with a passion. It is pretty on the trees and in Thomas Kinkade's artwork, but too dangerous for me.

6. Has a newspaper or television reporter ever interviewed you? If so, what were the circumstances and what did you think when you read or saw what you said?
Yes, back about 10 or 11 years ago when the Sopranos: Pepper and Eggs soundtrack came out, I went to a signing that featured Steven "Little Steven" Van Zandt who played Silvio Dante. I wanted to meet him for two reasons. 1)I loved the Sopranos and 2) I'm a Bruce Springsteen fan. Anyway...the county newspaper was there and they interviewed me because I was Italian and they wanted to know if I found the TV show insulting to Italian-Americans.

Here is a picture of me with Little Steven a whole decade ago!
Photobucket
7. What was the last CD/mp3 album that you purchased? How did you like it?
Photobucket
Actually I don't purchase any cds to be honest. Larry goes to Best Buy every Tuesday and gets some of the new releases. My favorite new release was Chickenfoot's album. But..this cd is one that I specifically asked him to purchase for me because I just love Susan Boyle's voice. I'm normally a rock-n-roll kinda girl, but I need to listen to people like her and Josh Groban every now and then for reflection, peace, and relaxation.

8. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
Number 1: "When You Love A Woman" by Journey. This was my wedding song back on October 12, 1997.

Number 2: "The Wonder of You" by Elvis. This is my favorite song in the whole world. I know for alot of people it is hard to answer.."hey what is your favorite song?". This is an easy question for me. Without a shadow of a doubt. This song means the world to me.

Number 3: "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" by Billy Joel. First there is Elvis. He will always be my number one. But, Billy Joel would probably be my number 2 favorite artist. This song is fun and I just love it. The fact that we have similar accents is pretty funny when I sing along with it.

Number 4: "One" by U2. I love Bono and the band U2. This is my favorite song by them.

Number 5: "Watching The Wheels" by John Lennon. Another legend who I love. This is one of my favorite songs of his.

Number 5 and 1/2: "Simple Things" by Amy Grant. I just love her. I have since I was a freshman in high school. Yes, when she did the Contemporaty Christian music. My nun friend introduced me to her. I loved also when she crossed over to Pop too. This song is about just appreciating the simple things in life and it reminds me that it truly doesn't take much to make me happy.

9. Do you are your partner usual begin intimacy?
Boy talk about having one come out of left field. We're talking about songs and ambitions...then...BAM...a sex question. LOL! To answer honestly...my husband does. That's all your getting out of me though. LOL!

Losing Touch

Well, it has been nearly a month since my last blog post. I never in my life thought that I would be so busy with school and my hospice externship. I am so sorry. I really shouldn't be making excuses. I really need to set aside time for the things that I love...like blogging. Oh yes, and sleeping. I didn't expect it to be this involved. I never had "the college experience". Maybe the reason that all of this whole program is crammed into 6 months and is very intensive. It is ALOT to remember and alot to memorize. I have a weekly 4hr lecture of anatomy & physiology that I really like. My professor that teaches that class is brilliant. He is going to medical school with hopes to become either a spinal or a thoracic surgeon. Plus he gets major props because he is a LOST fan too!

I have a HUGE project that I'm working on for class. Each of us was given a medical specialty and basically we have to make a brochure for "our practice" as we are both "the medical assistant and managers" of that practice. I got ophthalmology. We have to go as far as naming a doctor, giving his history, discussing diseases, treatments. The whole kit-and-kaboodle. We could make anything up and she told us to have fun with it too. Guess who my doctor is??? Dr. Elvis A. Presley, MD. I kid you not!!! As you can see, I'm having some fun with it too!! So far I have an 8 page folded brochure. I still have more to go. It is going to be lots of fun when I have to actually go and print this thing. Lining up the pages with the correct things on each side has been very challenging.

I wanted to post these pictures of me with my cousins. Larry and I went out with them a few weeks ago.

This is me with my cousin Kara. She gets all the time that she looks like Jennifer Aniston. She is my heart though! We grew up together.

Well, I better go back and work on my project. I am sorry I have been losing touch. I really am going to try and be better. This blog and all of you are very important to me. I'm just not used to being back in a routine like this and trying to prioritize my time.
