Tonight was just OK for American Idol. Maybe it was just me, but I thought last week was better. I don't know. I just wasn't crazy about alot of the performances. I'm just being honest. I give them all the credit in the world for going up there and giving it their all. Some of them never heard the songs before. So, I give them major props. That being said...here is my review of tonight's festivities. As you can tell by the photo on the left who my favorite perfomance was by for the evening. OK, seriously, I'm not being biased...I really REALLY loved it. Anyway, here is what I personally thought. Please feel free to share & comment what your feelings were. I would love to hear them.
- Amanda - "Back In The USSR" - Ok, she is growing on me. She is smiling more. She made me laugh at the end when she said the part about her going 'I wanna go to that chick's concert because she seems fun' or something to that effect. She did a great job on it.
- Kristy - "You Gotta Hide Your Love Away" - I really, really, REALLY try to like her performances because she seems like she is a VERY sweet person. But she just doesn't grab my attention like some of the others. I will give her this. It was MUCH better than last week's performance of "Eight Days A Week". She did make a "open mouth, insert foot comment". Did any of you catch that? It went over my head until hubby started laughing then I saw Simon & Ryan getting a big kick out of it too. Then you could tell she caught onto what she said herself.
- David Archuleta - "The Long & Winding Road" - Definetely better than last week. I'm SO happy he didn't forget the lyrics because that could have been very damaging to him. I somehow think the prediction though that he will win might be false. We shall see. I did enjoy his performance. He just seems so sweet.
- Michael Johns - "A Day In The Life" - Ok, you all know he is my number 2 pick. But I will be honest (even though it is like a knife piercing my side) and say it wasn't his best performance. I still liked it. I didn't think it was as horrible as Simon made it out to be. I still liked it and he still is my number 2 pick. The man sings just like Michael Hutchence.
- Brooke White - "Here Comes The Sun" - Nope! Did not like it at all I'm afraid. Plus she had that whole very bizarre thing she was doing with her shoulder. She stepped out of her comfort zone, I have to give her that, but not as good as last week. She seems very sweet & humble so I hope it doesn't affect her.
- David Cook - "Day Tripper" - AMAZING! My favorite performance of the night. I LOVED it. Again, it isn't because I'm biased. I really REALLY liked it. He is a natural on the stage, he takes the stage over & gives it his all. He was born to do this. (I also liked that voice box Peter Frampton-like thing he did.)
- Carly Smithson - "Blackbird" - I really like her. I thought it was OK. I guess to me, her doing "Come Together" last week was phenomenal & I really got to stop comparing it. It did show her vocal range, but she does upbeat songs better to me.
- Jason - "Michelle" - Wrong choice of song. I didn't care for it. Plus forgive me for saying this, but it is like he sings with his eyebrows. It is very distracting. But, the girls love him & I think he will stay on.
- S'yeisha - "Yesterday" - Ok, the judges liked it. To me, it was more like a lullaby.
- Chikezie - "I've Just Seen A Face" - I enjoyed it. He is so sweet & he looks like he is honestly having a great time & that is what it really is all about. I think he did better last week, but this week was good too. The harmonica thing was SO funny. I give him props for trying!
- Ramiele - "I Should Have Known Better" - It was just 'eh for me. I wasn't crazy about it. I feel like Simon when he says "sorry".
Simon quotes of the night (both I'm afraid to say were directed towards Kristy Lee Cook)
1) "You need something like hypnosis"
2) "It is like looking at wallpaper, you see it, but you don't remember it"
So what do you all think, let me know.....Who do you think will be voted off? Who were your favorites?
My favorite performances tonight:
1) David Cook
2) Amanda
3) Michael Johns
4) Chikezie
5) Carly
Who I think will be voted off: (either one of these two)
1) Ramiele
2) Kristy Lee

I hate to say it, because as you know I am not a David Cook fan, but he did do a good job tonight. Better than last week, I think, simply because he wasn't off key.
I loved what you said about Kristy Lee! I couldn't agree more, and yes, I caught her unfortunate comment to Simon, too.
I actually found myself agreeing with most of your opinions tonight, as well as your guess for who will leave. We'll see!
Yay!! Ruthie! I'm SO happy you liked David's performance! I bet he is going to grow on you! LOL! (ok, probably not, but it was worth mentioning. LOL!)
I'm glad you agreed with most of my opinions/guesses. We shall see what happens. In a few weeks it will be sad because we will all see alot of our favorites go, but I don't think we will need to worry, I'm sure alot will get album deals. There are alot of talented people this year.
I think we're on the same page. It was hard to pick a favorite among such lackluster performances.
