Things You Shouldn't Say Around Someone Unemployed
Since I got laid off in June of 2009, I figured this was a good one to choose. Luckily I got chosen for a grant for school that workforce gave out to displaced workers. Thank you God!!! So glad to get a second chance!!
1) "Everything happens for a reason."
2) "Are you sure you want to buy that since you are on unemployment and all?"
3) "Can you do that for me, you know, with all that free time you have"
4) "Sorry I can't stay out late tonight, some of us have to go to work in the morning"
5) "Oh my God, how are you surviving?"

Ugh ...I feel like crap now cause I am guilty of # 3 and 4 with "R".
Great talking with you last night! Stay safe and ttys! Hugs!
Just great lines! People can be insensitive. I used to hate, "How long has it been?"
These are so dead on! We have gone through a few lay-offs (and God-willing there won't be any more) in the 13 years we have been together and we have heard them all. People just don't get how emotionally draining it is.
Great lines. Love them.
How about: Were you fired or laid off? LOL
Rabbit, Rabbit
I wonder how much you get those too. Some people...
Thanks for playing!
Those were good and so true!
Good answers, if I get to thinking of saying something stupid, I'll think twice.
Thanks for teaching some of us to just keep our mouths closed.
Take care Jodi and have a great night. Hope school went good today. I'll post tomorrow my results, hoping and praying there are some.
God Bless!!
