American Idol Review - Top 5 - Neil Diamond songs

Tonight the idols sang the songs of Neil Diamond. How great does Neil Diamond look? What an amazing songbook he has! He was so sweet with each of the Idol contestants.

Boy, oh boy, I really need to address one issue before I give my review. I really am starting to feel bad for Paula. She was totally out of it tonight. How could she think that Jason did two songs? Ryan clearly said each one did one, it was Round one, what did the judges think? I feel bad for her because she struggles for her words & then she has Simon (the peanut gallery) commenting right next to her & probably confusing her even more.

That being said...onto the review.

In order of my preference:

1) David Cook ( surprise, surprise..LOL)
*** "I'm Alive" - Loved it. It was fresh, he sang it very well, he had alot of energy during it. It was a fun song.
*** "All I Really Need Is You" - ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! This was my favorite of the two. He did a phenomenal job. One of the intelligent things Ms Abdul said tonight was "I feel like I'm already looking at the American Idol"...(yay!!!!!!!!!!)

2) Syesha Mercado
*** "Hello Again" - great vocals, solid performance. What's up with her not wearing shoes though?
*** "Thank The Lord For The Night Time" - Another great performance. She really has found her genre & is very confident. I love this side of her. Again, she was Shoeless Mercado. LOL!

3) David Archuleta
*** "Sweet Caroline" - He did a good job. I am an Elvis fan so I've only heard Neil & Elvis do this song...so it is hard for me to love anyone else doing this. (Ok, maybe if David C did it..LOL)
***
"Coming to America" - It was good. This kind of reminded me of Kristy Lee Cook singing "God Bless the USA"...it was the safest Neil song one could sing on American Idol. LOL

4) Brooke White
*** "I'm A Believer" - Simon was right...it sounded like a girls night out, having a few drinks & daring one of your friends to go do a song. I wouldn't call it a nightmare, just a bad dream.
*** "I Am, I Said" - Much better than the other song. She is very talented, has a very good personality, but I do not think she will be in the Top 2.

5) Jason Castro
*** "Forever in Blue Jeans" - I really didn't like this at all. Sorry. (insert Simon tone here)
*** "September Morn" - I liked this better than the first song. The thing is about him is that he sounds the same with everything he does & he doesn't project his voice well. Again, just my opinion.

The bottom 2 prediction:
Jason should be in the bottom 2, but he has alot of young teenage girls voting for him...so I will say - Bottom 2 - Brooke & Syesha. Unfortunately we are at the point in the competition where this has become a popularity contest. So I will predict that Syesha will be next to go even though I think she is more talented than Brooke. Who really should go next though is Jason.

We shall see...until tomorrow

This is how bad my tea addiction is, and how I get my fix: I order two at a time -- one without ice. That way as my initial icy one gets low on tea, I refill it with the no-ice one. Do you like yours with lemon? And I agree -- I think it's the styrofoam cup that keeps the ice all day. Mmmmm...I wish I had one right now! There must be a cup of sugar in each serving, but oh man. (drooling)

I did like David Cook tonight, but I think Syesha was my favorite. I fear for her, though -- with all the time she's spent in the bottom two or three lately.

I'm so upset, I missed the show! I took a pain killer for my neck and it knocked me out. I'll have to watch the performances on YouTube. Hopefully I can stay up tonight!

I srsly think Jason is going. I'll be shocked if not. And you know what? It occurred to me as I was reading you that they pretty much all sound the same every week. We just seem to tolerate it more in the people we like. I have to confess that I'm not wahoo crazy over any of these finalists, but David A. is my sentimental favorites. I don't think I'd buy music by any of them, to be honest. Maybe I would.

I love what you had to say and I think Neil Diamond is a hard act to follow b/c his voice is kind of on the low side like Elivs which I love too!! but then again Neil can really hit those vocals and powerful!!
I love David C b/c he made it his own style which I love it!!
and Syesha was really good and so was DavidA when he sanging America!!
as for Paula she sounds like me sometimes when I have to much to say I can't seem to get it all out in one word so I understand her, anyway love what you had to say! marina
