We had a really nice day despite my aching bones from yesterday's wrestling signing we attended. I have to admit, I am not a very "active" person. I have a sit down job for 8 1/2 hours each day and a 90 min commute each way. So, I literally spend alot of time on my butt. Yesterday was just standing on lines all day and helping my hubby cart around two huge duffle bags of
This afternoon we went out to our favorite Portuguese Restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We like to go there on special occasions only because it is a tad expensive. Our "fancy" dinners out are to Chilis. Hehehe. Chilis would be about 1/3 of the cost of this place. We go to this place normally three times a year. In February we go there to celebrate dual "holidays" for us - Valentines Day (Feb 14th) and the day we met many moons ago (Feb 17th). The second time we go is for my birthday on June 29th. (This year we went to a different restaurant and regretted it). Lastly, we go for our wedding anniversary October 12th.
The owner loves us and is always very kind to us. He knows that we come there to celebrate special occasions. Today, he threw in a free "shot" each of Jagermeister. That nearly knocked me off my chair. Please note that it was after my husband and I finished a pitcher of Sangria, which I must say was the best we have ever had there. It was SO good that I wanted another pitcher, but we had to drive home. Good thing we didn't get another pitcher since we didn't know about the shots the owner planned on giving us.
The food was out of this world. For appetizer we had stuffed mushrooms and Portuguese sausage. For dinner, I had shrimp scampi and my hubby had chicken franchese, all Portuguese style. For dessert my hubby had tiramisu and I had the flan. We passed up on a very special dessert that is a delicacy there. They had a new dessert menu there this time and this was the first time I have ever seen this. I laughed for about 10 minutes straight. Keep in mind that we just finished the pitcher of Sangria. The photo below shows the dessert menu. Sorry the picture is so dark, I took it with my cell phone camera. I just HAD to show you all this. Look at the third one down.

It says Serradura (Sawdust/Camel Spit). I had to ask the waiter (when I was done laughing) what it was because I was SO fascinated by the name of it. It is also nicknamed "sawdust pudding". It has layers of crushed plain biscuit type cookies and layers of cream & condensed milk mix. It is supposed to taste like vanilla ice cream, luckily not camel spit. I kept making up jokes to my hubby the rest of the night telling him next time we go we have to make sure we "save room for the camel spit". This is what it looks like...

I'm going to read a few blogs now & go off to sleep. I wish you all a wonderful Monday my bloggy friends.

Sue - it does, doesn't it? I think I might try it next time. The waiter said it was delicious. I think I would have laughed too much to have it this past time. Next time the novelty would have worn off. LOL!
