It Is What It Is

Today began my first day of what I will call a "forced vacation". The true terminology is seasonal layoff. Part of my bad day on Monday was being told I will be laid off for two weeks: the week of Christmas and the Week of New Years. I've had many mixed emotions. Many include and are in no particular order: anger, frustration, bitterness, worry and hurt. But I've now accepted it and am thankful that it is just a seasonal layoff. I have a restart date of January 5, 2009. I am still employed. Some hundreds Thousands are not as fortunate. So I really am trying to accept this as an "it is what it is" situation. Will it be tough not to have a paycheck coming in for two straight weeks right over the holidays? Yes. Will I be able to get unemployment? Yes. That is if I could get them on the phone. Their lines have been busy ALL day long. I imagine there are SO many people in my similar situation so that is why I'm not going to flip out about it. The only thing is I will probably not see a check until the end of January. So will it be hard? Yes.

This too shall pass.

I hope the best for you, Jodi. Tough times. My sis got a pink slip about a month ago and somehow turned the whole situation around. I was pretty d... impressed. She gave notice, went shopping and found a better situation than what she had to begin with. So, yes, don't flip out about it...when the going gets tough, the tough get going....some quote from some anonymous dude...and "heartily know, when half gods go, the gods arrive," Whitman

Hugs Jodi.

I agree with what Mytho says. The tough get going.

And remember, when God closes a door, somewhere he opens a window.

Sending many positive wishes your way.

Big hugs to you! Not getting the pay won't be grea and I am sorry for that. But having some relax time for the holidays will be nice. This time of year is just so stressful. This too shall pass and you will be alright. Just think, it could be worse.

Thinking of you!

On the positive side ...look at how much time you can spend with your fur-baby!
We're digging out here, looks like between 7-8" with some drifts. I have to be to work for 6 ...ugh!
Enjoy your Saturday!

I LOVE your background. Sorry you're going through a bummer of a time. We went through major cuts last week at my husband's work, and he did not get cut, but nothing is ever forever or for certain. We have been reminded that we depend on the Lord and not our jobs, but when the rubber starts hitting the road, emotions set in. Saying a prayer for you.

Layoffs, or whatever they get called, always suck, no matter how short. My husband took the opportunity his layoff provided and went back to school, and I think that's a good way to look at them, no matter how long--as opportunity. Have fun with it, and bask in knowing you'll be going back :) I, for one, look forward to LOTS of blog entries :))
