Ok, I'm a horrible Aunt. I took pictures of Chester this weekend, but I didn't take any of Max. How mean am I? Well, I had
a lot on my mind this weekend. I was thinking twice about posting this because it saddens me very much. Remember when I told you all that my sister's veterinarian removed a lump from Chester's leg two weeks ago. The biopsy of the lump tested positive for Stage 2 cancer. My sister is torn apart and heartbroken. Chester is only 3 years old!! She is worried sick & I am as well. I wasn't going to post it because I hate to share such depressing news. The vet believes that he got all of the tumor out. Because it was in such a sensitive spot right near his ankle area, he could only go so far because he would not had enough skin left to close him up. He says that we just have to watch the area to see if it grows back or if any other tumors form on his body. At that point is when he would have to go to a veterinarian that specializes in cancer. Hopefully it will not progress God willing. He is an angel of a dog. The gentlest dog you can ever encounter. If you can say a prayer for him for the cancer to stay out of his body, I would so appreciate it. He is so innocent and so loved by all of us.

Last week I posted pictures of Chester's soft cast which was a lovely shade of orange with smiley faces. This week, when they re-wrapped his leg, the doctor put on a lovely shade of turquoise with stars on it. There is a little story behind our feeling about that. See, my sister had 3 labs in February of 2007. Her oldest dog Jake developed lung cancer in November 2006 and passed away on Feb 17, 2007. My sister was absolutely devastated. She always called Jake her "stars up above". This may seem dumb, but we feel that the stars on Chester's soft cast is a sign that Jake is watching over his brother. We are grabbing onto everything we can. We are praying to God and asking for the intercession of Saint Francis (patron Saint of animals) to watch and protect Chester and keep him healthy.
On a brighter note, doesn't Chester look handsome in his turquoise cast??

Here is our honest attempt at trying to celebrate Jenny's birthday on Saturday. She had just found out on Thursday about Chester. We tried our best & managed to have a nice day together as a family.

These are the flowers I brought fo Jenny to cheer her up. Actually they were from Harley ♥ . Hehehe
