Today's HOT topic is the Hot Plate. I've never owned one or operated one. (That sounds like a warning on a box of cold medicine..hehehe). You don't really hear much about them these days, but I know that they were popular in motels, or any other place where a full kitchen isn't accessible. It is used as a substitute stovetop. In some chemical plants, they use something modeled after a hot plate to heat glassware in laboratories.
Have you ever operated or owned a hot plate? Or are you like me & terrified they would catch on fire? (Remember, that is how Shady Pines went up in smoke & caused Sophia to go live with Dorothy & the other "Golden Girls"...come to think of it, that is how Arthur Spooner on "The King of Queens" burned down his house...coincidence huh?)
